Youth Outreach – Consultation with our young people

Woodmancote Parish Council are about to embark on an exciting project to consult with young people in Woodmancote to identify what facilities they would like to see provided for them in the village.

The consultation will be undertaken by qualified and DBS-checked youth outreach works and will be entirely funded through a grant from Tewkesbury Borough Council. The outreach workers will be active throughout May and June 2021, meeting young people wherever they gather in the village, including the Village Hall and on Honeybourne Meadow. They will report back to the Parish Council at the end of June.

With a clearer understanding of what offerings young people would welcome, the Council will be better placed to ensure that any investments made locally in youth provision are based on actual identified need rather than assumptions.

Lack of provision for young people has seen an increase in reported anti-social behaviour and petty vandalism throughout this last year in the village. Structured provision will bring benefits to the wider community and can help reduce this and will further develop Woodmancote’s already strong sense of community.
